Where is Enchanted Rock SNA Located?


Enchanted Rock State Natural Area is located 18 miles north of Fredericksburg on Ranch Road 965, or take State Highway 16 for 14 miles south from Llano, and then west on Ranch Road 965 for 8 miles. The park entrance is located at 6710 Ranch Road 965.

What hours can I visit Enchanted Rock SNA?

Enchanted Rock is open 7 days a week year-round, from 8 AM to 10 PM for day use activities.

NOTE: Special Guidelines for day-use visitation: Once the park reaches capacity, usually during heavy use periods (weekends, holidays, and spring break), it will temporarily close for the day and re-open when sufficient parking is available. Visitation is being limited to protect the natural and cultural resources, to preserve the natural experience for visitors, and for visitor safety. Enchanted Rock Staff encourages people to visit during weekdays. This will not affect campers with a reservation. Save gas and time - during peak periods call 830-685-3636 before you drive! If the park is closed we suggest that you spend your wait time visiting one of the area's many attractions. What are the fees to visit Enchanted Rock SNA?

Daily entrance fees are $7.00 per person 13 years and older. Children are free. Campsites and other facility fees are not included in entrance fee. An annual Texas State Parks Pass is available. For more information on special fees, visit www.tpwd.state.tx.us

How far is it from the Gazebo to Enchanted Rock Summit?

It is approximately 3/4 of a mile from the Gazebo to the Summit. You will gain 425 ft in elevation but it feels like more!

Where is the Enchanted Rock Cave?

On the northeast side of Enchanted Rock there is a cave formed by exfoliated boulders. Check the park map for exact location.You are encouraged to take a friend and a flashlight with you to explore the cave. Park staff recommends that you back out the way you came in. There is an exit on the backside but it is very steep and dangerous.

Are dogs welcome at Enchanted Rock SNA?

Yes, dogs are welcome! Please follow park regulations and keep your dog leashed at all times. Pick up after your dog, especially near camp areas. Be sure to keep your dog well hydrated if you plan to hike the Summit Trail. Dogs are not allowed to drink out of or cool off in the fragile vernal pools.
