Friends Work Day June 13

The Friends of Enchanted Rock are having a work day from 9 to 4 on Saturday, June 13th, 2015.  We have lined up some much needed projects which the tiny staff of the park don't have time for:

Climbing Area Clean-up.  Not as big a job as the one on Everest, but overdue.
Cave Clean-up.  Headlamps will be provided.
Highway 965 Clean-up.  The two miles adjacent to the park are our responsibility.
Brush work.  I can't describe this, the ranger will, but it sounds like work to me.
Re-setting the "No Swimming" sign at Frog Pond.  Yes, it has been pulled up by a park visitor recently, and needs to be put back in the ground.  Why the sign was pulled up is a mystery, but if you're crazy enough to do that, you might be crazy enough to want to swim in the pond.
Painting signs - maybe - we'll see.
Collecting and Sorting recycling.
Finally - a walk through the camping/picnic areas with all the volunteers in a massive sweep to pick up trash, probably at the end.

Why would you want to do this?

Good question, easy answer:  we are going to have a blast!  You will get free admission to the park, you will meet a lot of like-minded people, and we will have a Free Lunch in the natural "amphitheater" by the Carnivore Boulders (1/2 mile from campground, on the side of West Little Rock) with a presentation by our interpretive ranger, Scott Whitener, that you won't want to miss.

No free camping this time, all the camping spaces are already reserved (weekends almost to the end of June).  We will post information on alternate campgrounds.  Incidentally, the choice of cold beverages is considerably larger in those campgrounds than inside the park.

We would like you to let us know you are coming by emailing us, commenting on this blog, or on the Facebook Event Page.  Free admission will be by name from that list. Staging area will be near the Trailhead Gazebo/Bathrooms.

Contact Robert Deming, FOER, at or 830-992-5676 if you have questions.
